  I discovered Curate because every other restaurant in Asheville closed early on Super Bowl Sunday. Finding a restaurant open was a relief. Finding it to be excellent was a even better! Because it was late, and because everyone was home or at a sports bar watching the game, there was no wait and practically our choice of tables!
  Our waitress was fabulous. I wondered later if she was the owner....she knew the menu intimately, including ingredients and wine pairings. Curate is a small plates/tapas restaurant. The waitress suggested three small plates per person (total 6); we ordered only two per person (4), but could probably have used one more between us (5). Three of the dishes we ordered were exceptional. Surprising and unique combinations of interesting ingredients. The fourth, a white asparagus dish was, just OK and seemed to have used canned asparagus as the base. I ordered "a glass of the house red, perhaps a Shiraz" and the waitress said she'd just opened a bottle of a delightful red. Oh my gosh; i wish I had taken a photo of the label - it was spectacular. I suspect it was a very good wine that she generously sold as the house wine rather than open a new bottle.
  The portions are small - but that's the small plate concept. The prices seem quite reasonable until you aggrage them, realizing it takes several dishes per person to make a meal. We were surprised by the total bill, but we shouldn't have been; everything was charged exactly as indicated on the menu.
  Recently I saw Curate listed on some food editor's list of "25 Places You Must Eat Before You Die." I wouldn't rate it quite that highly, but the inventiveness of the dishes, the broad selection, and the effortless engagement of our server all earned it 5 stars in my book!

  Authentic Spanish Tapas Restaurant! The food was delicious especially the octopus (I forgot to get a pic). The service was great! It was. It was nice to hear that one of the owners is from Roses, Spain a small town we've summered in.
